\nI\u2019ve had my Lily Lolo Laid Bare Palette for several months now and I think it\u2019s finally time to give my thoughts on this product. It\u2019s the palette that I\u2019ve heard about the most since transitioning into green beauty. I even did some research on it before purchasing my own. So here are my thoughts of this non toxic eye shadow palette after using it myself.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This review will be broken down into the main features of the palette and then a final recap of everything. I\u2019m hoping to make it as all encompassing without boring you, but please let me know if I missed anything!<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Packaging<\/span><\/h2>\n

Like most Lily Lolo products, the packaging design and feel of this palette is great! I am a huge fan of the white and black design. The colors of the eyeshadows are all labeled on the back from left (Stark Naked) to right (Exposed). The mirror inside is also the perfect size to create any eye look. It also includes a double ended shadow brush which works as an emergency brush if you ever need one. As a whole the palette is surprisingly compact and the perfect size for traveling. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Eyeshadows<\/span><\/h2>\n

When it comes to the eye shadow range, I would have to say it\u2019s a little lackluster for me. The eye palette has a mix of cool and warm toned eyeshadows to create more daytime looks with a few darker shades to amplify any look. Despite that, many of the colors fell flat for me. Anytime I use the 3 leftmost shadows (Stark Naked to Skinny Dip), I had a hard time seeing their differences in color on my olive skin. It feels very redundant to have 3 colors that are so similar in one palette. The darker shades like Shy Away (shimmery reddish brown) and Exihibitionist (darkest brown) do much better on my skin but often lack a lighter shade to balance the eye look. I think this is because the cool toned lighter shades don\u2019t actually compliment the warmer toned, darker shades. So it\u2019s not easy to create multiple eye looks.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Another issue with these eyeshadows is their lack of pigmentation. Some colors lack pigmentation more than others. For instance, the lighter shades including the gold have the worst pigmentation. The shade Shy Away is the most pigmented color in the palette and my favorite shade to use. Pigmentation isn\u2019t normally dealbreaker for me because I can work around the issue. My advice is to pack on the color using your fingers and avoid over blending the shadows. But, I still avoid the shade Lady Godiva (gold). In the pan it looks a vibrant, pigmented gold, but when you swatch it, it\u2019s a light gold shimmer. <\/span><\/p>\n

The final thing I wanted to mention is that there is only 1 matte shade in the entire palette: Stark Naked. On many websites, including the Lily Lolo website it describes two of the darker shadows as matte: Birthday Suit & Exihibitionist. However, these shadows are not matte at all and have a light shimmer which is noticeable in the pan. I was disappointed when I realized this. I would have liked one more matte shade in this palette to make it more versatile. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Price<\/span><\/h2>\n

The price of this eye shadow palette is $34. This price is standard across multiple online shops and in stores. I think it\u2019s a great price for any green beauty eyeshadow palette. As we all know green beauty normally has a higher price tag, so $34 for 8 shadows is an absolute steal. <\/span><\/p>\n

Final Thoughts<\/span><\/h2>\n

This product is one of the most talked about eye shadow palettes in the green beauty space. Many people love this palette and I can see the reasons why. It has great packaging, a big mirror, beautiful dark brown shades, it\u2019s travel friendly and finally, it\u2019s only $34 for 8 eyeshadows. The price alone will get you because it\u2019s not easy to find this deal in green beauty. However, after using this palette for several months, I\u2019ve come to realize that the Lily Lolo Laid Bare Palette is not the palette for me. I am able to overlook the issues of pigmentation and that there is only 1 matte eyeshadow, but I can\u2019t work with its shade range. Half of the colors don\u2019t work for me and I don\u2019t use the palette as often as I expected to. I recently traveled abroad and purposefully didn\u2019t bring this palette with me, even though it would have been way easier to pack. It\u2019s just not for me, but I have learned something from this palette. I learned that I would be interested in trying other color ranges that Lily Lolo offers, perhaps the Pure Indulgence palette.
