Well, hello again everyone. I know it’s been a while but there’s so much to talk about since my last blog post. Where have I been? Do I even post anymore? What happened to my blog or YouTube channel? Where to start… So here’s my attempt at a brief update of what’s been going on with me and what to expect from my blog and YouTube channel this year.
Let’s start off with the biggest reason for my hiatus: For the past month and a half, I’ve been traveling around Taiwan and Korea. And it’s been a busy month of traveling by train, visiting my boyfriend’s family and eating my way through both countries. Naturally, all of this traveling didn’t leave enough free time for me to work on my blog or channel. So I fell behind on my posting schedule early on in my trip. Then as if my month long trip wasn’t long enough, I extended the trip by a week or two. I would’ve extended my stay even longer but I guess it’s just another reason to visit again.
*Tip: If you do ever visit Taiwan, I recommend booking your flight through China Airlines because extending or shortening your trip is super easy and completely free.
The next update is perhaps the most frustrating thing that could happen to a blogger or anyone with a YouTube channel. It happened 2 weeks into my trip while visiting my boyfriend’s family in Chiayi, Taiwan. One moment I was using my laptop to download photos and the next my laptop wouldn’t turn on. I would charge my laptop all day but it would never turn on. No menacing rainbow spinning wheel, no “power on” sound, just a black screen with a fully charged battery. It turns out, after visiting the only Apple store in Taiwan, that my laptop’s motherboard was fried. It was possible to install a new motherboard but it would be expensive. More importantly, they said they couldn’t promise that this solution would fix the problem completely and more work might be required. So I understood that as the universal code for “it’s time for a new laptop”. Unfortunately, I couldn’t buy my laptop in Taiwan because the prices were more expensive than back home in the US. So I was laptop-less for the next month. It was beautifully liberating but also incredibly inconvenient. I couldn’t check my emails or YouTube notifications as often as I normally do, so I apologize for any late responses. As a result of this fiasco, I also retreated from Instagram and Pinterest. Talk about a complete digital detox while abroad. Honestly, I’ve still been having a hard time getting back into the swing of social media.
So what now? I’m back home in the US and I got a computer. It’s not new. I ended up fixing my laptop and it works great! I’ve established a weekly schedule for my blog and YouTube channel. You can expect 1-2 weekly blog posts on either Mondays or Saturdays and 1 weekly video for my YouTube channel on Sundays. I will be posting travel related blog posts and videos about Taiwan and Korea. So if you have any questions or special requests for the travel posts, let me know in the comments. I also have a many pre-recorded videos from before my trip that will still be going up on my channel. Just don’t mind the different haircut. And lastly, I have to admit I spent a little more money than I planned on beauty purchases while traveling. So you can definitely expect plenty of Taiwanese and Korean green beauty product reviews and hauls on my blog and YouTube channel coming soon.
And with that, I’m off to edit, proofread and create more content.
‘Til next time!
