I’m starting this new series called “In the limelight”, as a way of sharing brands, items or people that I have been obsessed with this month. Everything I know about them I learned through their website or social media accounts. I live a conscious lifestyle; so many of these brands and items are natural, non-toxic, ethically made, sustainable and/or socially responsible. Now let’s shine the light on what caught my eye this February.
Naja
It’s February: the time of year I think about lingerie the most. I recently discovered Naja on Instagram and they are an eco-conscious swim, lingerie & activewear line. Everything is ethically made and the brand works to empower female consumers and their female workers. I love their designs and the brand’s effortlessly cool vibe. Some designs are even digitally printed which allows them to have such beautifully intricate patterns and images on their lingerie. Nude isn’t defined by one shade in their book. They have amazing “nude” options for all skin tones. They’re a force to be reckon with and learn more on their ethos here. I can’t wait to pick up my own few pieces and try them out.
Maven – Digital Clinic for Women
Maven is a new online health and wellness service for women. They offer text or video chat appointments on anything health or wellness related like a general health issue, nutrition, emotional health and prenatal concerns. Maven gives you a network of doctors, nurse practitioners, mental health providers and specialists at the reach of your cellphone or computer. I had the opportunity to try out a quick 10 min appointment for a career specialist to help me with interview tips and I had a great experience. The pricing varies on your service and the length of your appointment. I made my career specialists appointment the same day I opened an account. I even scheduled my appointment at 6:30 pm, past the time most offices close for the day. This kind of flexibility is unheard of in traditional healthcare and other services institutions. If you’re wondering more about Maven and how it works, check them out here.
Rise + Wander
I was looking for inspiration to get back into printmaking when I discovered Rise + Wander through Instagram. Aftyn Shah is amazing at what she does. I can scroll through her Instagram feed for hours. I love when artists show the work process and she has some amazing videos of it too. I explored her website too and I discovered a few video tutorials she has that made me inspired to start printmaking again. I love her work and I’d love to own one of her prints in the future.
Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Oils & Gloss Lip Crayons
On a recent trip to Target, I noticed a display case for the new Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Oils and Gloss Lip Crayons. I wasn’t initially interested in purchasing any new lip products. However, the more I looked into these lip products, the more I needed them in my life. The tinted lip oils are the perfect everyday product for on-the-go makeup looks. I know there are mixed reviews about it but I’m still excited to see how they work with myself. Tinted lip oils is a new products that sounds like a perfect match for my dry lips. I have my eye on the Rustling Rose color but I would love to pick up all the entire color range.
Now the gloss lip crayons also caught my eye because their packaging is amazing and the color range looks perfect for all the seasons. I normally don’t go for shimmery, glossy lipsticks but these color options are screaming my name. The pink-nude shades like Santorini Surprise and Tahitian Sunset are everything for this spring. But I definitely will get my hands on the color Bordeaux Vines before this winter officially ends. Great color selection and I read that the colors swatch on true to color.
Shea Moisture Makeup
When I first heard about Shea Moisture, I thought they were strictly a natural, non-toxic hair care brand. Then I discovered that they sell makeup too! I’ve been waiting for the perfect sale to pick up a few makeup products from this line. I’ve seen on social media that they are available in Target stores, but I can never find them in my local Target(s). I browsed their online store and I fell in love with their eyeshadow color selection and palettes. I was surprised to find quite a few matte shades and an abundance of brown shades in many different tones. I also can’t forget to mention their eyeliners that come in a variety of color and remind me so much of the Urban Decay eyeliners I used to buy before switching to green beauty. I love that their foundation selection has so many more options for deeper and brown skin colors. I’ll definitely be picking up a few products from this brand soon.
Now that I’ve shared what I’ve been obsessed with this February, I’d love to hear what your thoughts on are these brands or items. Please let me know if you’ve tried any of these items or recommend I look into a new brands for March. They might just show up on my next “In the limelight”.
‘Til next time!
